Israel Ekanem is a Nigerian-born award-winning storyteller, director, and podcaster based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They are the host of My Blackout Podcast, and co-founder of Ubuntu Media, an independent studio committed to telling important stories that deal with topical issues through documentaries, narrative films, commercials, podcasts, and social media. At a young age, Ekanem was introduced to the art of storytelling by his grandmother, Lydia, and it quickly became his passion. Since 2016 they have contributed as a writer and director to a number of internationally and locally shown films, including the award-winning We Watched The Clouds Form Shapes, Drown the Lovers and Dearg.
